London's Burning! London's Burning!
by Mrs Russell
We have loved our topic on The Great Fire of London this term. As well as being historians, we have also been architects redesigning London and have enjoyed being artists creating our own pictures of London from 3rd September 1666. Our first lesson was to create a 'background' of different coloured flames using oil pastels, covering all of the A4 piece of black sugar paper. Then the next lesson was to add some Tudor style houses out of black sugar paper strips to make the 'foreground'. We looked carefully at the shape of the wooden beams from some pictures to give us some inspiration. The finished pictures look really effective. What do you think to them?
