New Year in Class 3
by Class 3
We are so proud of the children in the way that they have adapted to new school routines. They have come into school very sensibly, with a smile upon their faces. It has been a pleasure getting to know the children over the past few weeks. The children have got to know each other through different activities such as fishing with numbers or sounds, building Lego challenges for different fairy tales, phonic games and some mindful colouring.
In English we have enjoyed retelling and changing some traditional tales, we are currently reading The Jolly Postman and have loved carrying out activities based around this book. The children particularly liked turning their teacher into things when making a new spell! In maths we have spent time counting and focusing on place value. The children are beginning to say how many tens and ones there are in either a teen or a two digit number up to 100. The children are getting more confident using different maths equipment such as tens frames, dienes, arrow cards and numicon.
The Learning Crew have been helping us to read and we are now a lot more resilient and we can now find phonemes within words.
